Who is the most underrated defensive player in the NFL?

That's right. Who gets almost no credit for making all those big plays that never seem to get noticed? Today, we discover and credit that player. I realize there are going to be a million homer answers on this one, but if you're going to name your team's backup left end, you'd better have a damn good reason.

Keith Bulluck. He's always in the top 5 in tackles, but never makes the Pro Bowl. I know, I know...its because he plays for the Titans (smaller market team), but that really shouldn't make a difference.

Are you drunk? Once again, Lofa is losing out because of douche bag. His rookie season it was a cheating steroid addict, this time its Pacman. Like the whole league isnt overshadowed by Pacman? You don't think Lofa was overshadowed by Wistrom? Bryce Fischer? Rocky Bernard? and soon to be Kerney? Report It

Adalius Thomas. They guys is the most underrated. He plays DE, LB, CB, and even Safety once. He is very versitile and has over 25 sacks the past 3 years.
Sheldon Brown. The reason Lito Sheppard is able to make all his big plays is because QBs would rather throw to Sheppard's side, so they can avoid Brown. And the year Sheppard was injured (along with the rest of the team) Brown had an MVP-level season, playing corner AND safety and racking up INTs and all sorts of big plays. Also, his hit on Reggie Bush in the playoff game last year...poetry in motion.
Teddy lehman, detroit lions
I'm not going to make a homer pick, because I'm pretty sure all the Bears defenders individually are overrated. I'm gonna go with the Broncos D-line. They were bad in CLE, but when they moved, they improved...
Demarcus Ware
Scott Fujita, New Orleans Saints, LB....Scott makes alot of big tackles with stopping possible big plays, as well as stopping first downs, and he get no credit. You always hear about Grantr, or Smith, but Fujita makes most of the big plays needed by the defense, especially in the Eagles playoff game. Had it not been for his good tackling and staying with the play, we lose that game!!! Hats off to Scott Fujita!!!!
Darren Sharper...

Doesnt make mistakes...Great team player..Quality individual..
adalius thomas
there are a lot of underrated D players in the nfl. lofa tatupu, jamal williams, aaron kampman, kerry rhodes, luis castillo, terence newman, and bob sanders all either put up good numbers without getting noticed, or make their D considerably better when they are in the lineup.
Bob Sanders, he brings players to a whole diffrent level when hes on the field and he is a terrific cover safety
kevin williams - dt - minnesota vikings
Demarcus Ware ... he get's some props but not what he deserves. He is overshadowed by Shawn Merriman because they were in the same draft class.
Antoine Winfield of the Minnesota Vikings. He is the best tackling cornerback in the NFL and can cover with the best of them. He never misses time and somehow has never made the pro bowl. You don't hear much about him because teams constantly stay away from his side of the field. Too bad he plays for the Vikings.
Aaron Smith Steelers Defensive End he stops the run and gets to the Quarterback almost all the time he should get more love than he does.
the entire Steeler's d-line
In my opinion the most underrated defensive player in the NFL would have to be Demeco Ryans. Yeah hes only played one full season in the nfl, but he had very good stats last season in his rookie year but scarcely got reconigzned. He finished his season with 155 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 1 INT, and a FF. He did win defensive rookie of the year, and thats when he started getting reconigzed a little bit. Even before the end of the season he was making great plays and helping his D and was never really reconigzned. He had great stats, and he even had more tackles then some of the really great linebackers in the nfl. I guess he never got really reconigzed because he played for a crappy team like the houston texans, which I think sucks bad.
Ray Lewis , Brain Urlacher, Jason Taylor, Shawn Sterioman are all underratted players.. they get no respect.
the bear's d-line they where stoping the running game 4 everyone this line is the best d-line in the nfl right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Winfiled, best corner in the game
Lofa Tatupu

He does get press, but Lofa doesnt get the money or the press he deserves. Big headed steroid idiots like Merriman get the glory by coming in on third and long when the coach tells him to "run straight" and he gets the sacks. Lofa on the other hand, has led his teams defense in and out of the huddle, led his team in tackles his rookie year, and took the Seahawks defense to the superbowl against Pitt.

Lofa all the way.

Also, on draft day when he was taken 2nd round by Seattle, ESPN analysts were calling it the worst pick of the draft and far to early for a MLB so undersized. I think hes been under rated since the day he entered the league, and still is now. Last year he only made the Pro Bowl as an alternate. Thats garbage, he owns.

I just want to add that leading a defense is way harder than just playing defense and playing it well. He gets the plays from the sideline, calls it in the huddle, makes LB and D-Line adjustments before the snap and is always involved in the play. The man is everywhere. He is a mini-Urlacher for 400K per year, how is there anyone more under rated. 228 Total Tackles in his FIRST two years as a pro. Not best two years out of 10, his first 2 ever!

Demarcus Ware is not under rated, he is over rated, dude had less than 60 tackles this year, please.
how bout that corner for the raiders. i think his name nmadi asamougha or something like that. because he plays on the raiders team he doesnt get the notoriety he deserves. i have seen him make some great plays on the ball and he happens excel at the position that a lot of people deem most important. watch for him to have a huge season this year.
DE Aaron Kampman GB Packers

2nd in sacks last season
