When do you think they will put Derrick Thomas in the NFL Hall of Fame?

I thought he should have made it in the first year of eligibility but know it is getting ridiculous. Years have gone by and people keep not voting on this. Whats your take?

When do you think they will put Derrick Thomas in the NFL Hall of Fame?golf

He was great, but he can't be considerd one of the all time greats.

The HOF is blatantly biased against defenders. Until they own up to it, probably never.

I'm not saying whether or not he should go. I'm saying HOF voters are idiots.
It could go either way. But Derrick Brooks is guaranteed to go.
i thought he was in the hall of fame, but if he isn't i have to agree with you, he was great, it was really too bad he died but what are they waiting for, he definitly needs to be in the hall of fame

Go Chiefs!!!
you are right , he deserves to be in the hall. no idea what these voters are thinking, look at the people they have put in the hall on the first ballot that do not deserve that honor while they drag their feet on people who deserve to be in. it is all politics. look at Otis Taylor and Johnny Robinson should both be in but not even mentioned.
I think a lot of people see him as just a pass rusher - a one dimensional player. I personally think he was a guy that made the opposing offense play around what he wanted to do. He was an absolute sack machine and could be a big impact on the game without even getting any tackles. His last couple years weren't that great and he was sidelined with injuries so that doesn't help his cause. I would like to see in the HOF, but I don't know if it will happen. Either way it was a shame that his career was cut short by a tragic accident. One of my favorite players of all time.

GO CHIEFS!!!!
I think they will put him in since he played in 9 probowls. and was named to the all 1990's team. But it might take a while. (like harry Carson) Especially since Junior Seau will be in before him. I think what hurts DT is that he played his best games in the regular season and didn't seem to show up in the playoffs. He also played in a small market and never played in a superbowl. I hope they put him in but only after they put in Steve Atwater. IMO the best Safety of his era.
Why? He had a couple great years, but 2 years do NOT make a hall of famer. Had he not killed himself by driving too fast on ice, and played a few more solid years, he would have been a 2nd or 3rd year eligible HOFer.

What is the k marking on a authentic nfl football mean?

i was at the Packer game on the 9th against the Raiders and got lucky enough to catch the football after the extra point. It has 89 written on the nose of the football along with a branded K and a 2 written on the ball. On the lace it also as a K. Anybody know y?

K is for Kicker...Its a field goal ball that they pick out...just to avoid complaining they use certain balls marked with a K

A "K" ball is used to signify the ball they use for extra points and field goals.

How come the MLB draft isnt as well publicized as the NBA and NFL drafts?

1. there are way to many rounds

2. in other sports the rookies drafted in the top ten usually play the next year for their teams.

3. in baseball you dont hear about those guys again for an average of four years or so

How come the MLB draft isnt as well publicized as the NBA and NFL drafts?nhl

I think it's because a lot of these guys will never play an inning of major league baseball. In the NFL and the NBA you're being drafted to play for that team, especially the higher round picks are pretty much guaranteed a spot on their professional roster. In baseball these guys are drafted by a team to play in their minor league system. Some of these guys are known for those fans that followcollegebaseball, but then there's also kids coming out of high school that nobody knows a thing about. Not to mention a lot of these guys may not even be with the team that drafted them because of how often players are moved around in trades for big name veterans. I wish it were as big as the NBA and NFL draft, but the fact of the matter is it will never be as big as either of them.

How come the MLB draft isnt as well publicized as the NBA and NFL drafts?nba street homecourt ,nba teams

I didnt read through all the replies, so if someone else gave this answer, kudos to them.

I never realized this, but last year while reading a book about baseball, it made a great point that baseball players seem to hit their prime after 25, and usually are not going to be immediate impact players the moment they come out of college.

Plus, the differences in thecollegegame versus the professional game make it somewhat prohibitive for a player to make the immediate jump.

As the comparison was made, you have an impact player incollegeand football, and their games are so similar, you can have an Adrian Peterson come out and make an immediate impact in the NFL or a LeBron James make an immediate impact in the NBA.

But, because of the different fields, different concentrations on teachins incollegebaseball, the aluminum bats, pitchers who dont have the speed or control as the professional level players, there are few players who have ever been successful making the immediate jump fromcollegeto the MLB!
I think that it's because odds are that first-round MLB draft picks are going to go straight to the minor leagues. Very rarely do they make an immediate impact on a major league roster. Typically, it takes them roughly 3-5 years before they make it to the show if they make it at all. In the NBA and NFL both, the drafts from rounds 1-4 will be playing for their respective team that season.
Due to the fact of the caliber of players in the Draft. It is very rare that a MLB Draftee starts the following season and makes an impact like in the other sports. As someone above stated they would spend a few years in the minors prior to being called up. The draft is usuallycollegegrads. So they have to do something aftercollegeball. Most teams have players locked up right out of high school some as young as 13 years old, usually those are the south americans. The MLB Draft is not a big deal when you can sign someone out of high school and put them straight into your farm system when they graduate high school or college. Hope this helps!
I think it's because thecollegebaseball game isn't as hyped. Most of these players don't see MLB action till 3-5 years down the road, and rarely is there an instant stud who gets brought up out of a draft. MLB draft picks make their names down the road so people don't really care to see who gets picked where when it happens, its just something to look at if they ever become successful.
NBA/NFL draftees for the most part have a pretty quick impact. MLB, the player has to go to the minors. And in today's day and age top prospects usually get traded by the time they hit the bigs. They are good pawns for big name players.
baseball isn't as popular as football and basketball. Who really watchescollegebaseball? At least with the NBA and NFL you are watching the athletes incollegeand they become somewhat household names...
1. There are a lot more rounds.

and

2. Most of the players taken are from high school orcollegeand they are less known thancollegebasketball or football players.
Because most of em spend a few years in the minors while NFL and NBA go right to the majors.
Because their is so many rounds!

Mlb.com will be showing all the rounds

and espn2 shows round 1....major league baseball has 50 rounds!
because nobody knows them and almost all spend 3 to 4 years in the minors before making the bigs...if they ever do.
There is no guarantee any of them will ever make the bigs
nobody knows the players...
way too many teams and rounds and players involved

How are salary caps determined in the NFL?

Is it based on the previous year's spending, amount of free agents signed, current players re-signed, what?

How are salary caps determined in the NFL?basketball shoes

The Cap is determined through a complicated calculation system, which has changed with the latest extension of the CBA. The Cap is based on income that the teams earn during a League Year. Originally that "pot" was limited to what was known as Defined Gross Revenues (DGR), which consisted of the money earned from the national televison contract, ticket sales, and NFL merchandise sales. Under the new agreement the "pot" has been expanded to include total revenue. Thus, other sources of revenue, including such other items as naming rights and local advertising, have been added. As was the case with the original DGR, the expanded revenue is divided equally amongst all 32 teams for purposes of claculating the salary cap.

For all of you nerds out there, here is the actual mathematical calculation:

Projected revenue x CBA Percentage = Players Share Total Revenue

Players Share minus Projected League wide Benefits =

Amount Available for Player Salaries

Amount Available for Player Salaries / Number of Teams =

Unadjusted Salary Cap per Team

Under the old DGR model, the CBA Percentages were as follows:

1998-2001

63%

2002

64%

2003

64.25%

2004

64.75%

2005

65.5%

2006

64.5%

2007

Uncapped Year

However, when the model was changed and the DGR expanded, the players and owners agreed to a smaller set percentage of the larger pot. The $102 M figure in 2006 was based on a 57% share of the 2006 projected Total Revenues as was the $109 M figure for 2007. In 2008, the percentage jumps to 57.5%, and the same percentage applies to 2009 as well. In 2010 and 2011 the percentage will be 58%. Note that if the projections see a shortfall in 2006 or 2007, when the dollar amounts were hard-coded in the CBA, then the 2008 and 2009 caps will be adjusted accordingly.

Note: The actual dollar amount of the Salary Cap can not be less than the actual dollar amount of any Salary Cap for the preceding year. So, for example, if Total Revenues should decline from one year to the next, the players are protected against a smaller associated Salary Cap. However, the Projected Benefits, plus the amount of the Salary Cap multiplied by the number of Teams in the NFL, can not exceed 61.68% of

Projected Total Revenues.

As we have seen, even though the percentage is lower, the expansion of the revenue "pot" still allows the players to come away from the table with more money in their pockets. Again, under the original DGR model, the salary cap was set at $94.5 Million in 2006 with the players receiving 64.5% of the DGR. Under the expanded revenue system, the cap increased to $102 Million with the players receiving 57% of the total revenue. That is an increase of almost 8%.

How do the British, more specifically English, feel about the NFL?

With the Giants and the Dolphins playing in London, at Wembley Stadium, I was wondering how the British feel about American Football. Do you enjoy watching/playing? Are there pubs which show American Football games? Do you have a favourite team? Is there a European Football (American) League? If so, how did today's Giants/Dolphins game compare to the matches you normally watch? How popular is American Football in Western Europe?

Thanks for your time. Cheers.

How do the British, more specifically English, feel about the NFL?pro basketball

It's not very big here at all really. As someone said, NFL Europa shut down sometime earlier this year. I remember a team called the London Monarchs, which moved to Germany at the turn of the century.

I enjoy watching but nowhere near as much as I enjoy watching rugby. This is not a criticism in any way, but I'm not too keen on the focus on stats and the stop-start nature of play. As you'll probably be aware, rugby players are on the field for the entire game with the exception of substitutions.

The best thing about the game being held in London was being able to listen to the UK commentators... I think it's quite clear nobody here understands the game at all!

I'm quite happy playing Madden though! :)

How do the British, more specifically English, feel about the NFL?nba history ,nba teams

i watched the game. it said that there were 90,000 people at the game. it was sold out. most people were dolphins fans. the anouncers mentioned that the english liked the aggresiveness of the game, but it looked like they were pretty bored because they were doing the wave a lot which was probably so they werent bored.
I watched the game and the crowd seemed to welcome or like football
The NFL Europe is history. At the end of last season they shut it down. To expensive. In Europe is American football not so popular. England and France have pretty good rugby teams.

Recently was the woldchampionchip in France - Southafrica won. Rugby is a much rougher sport than football. The English people like that more. But the number one game is soccer in Europe.
It seems a bit overcomplicated. I don't understand the game. I felt sorry for the American fans who couldn't watch their team that weekend because they'd come over to play across the Atlantic.
I went to London on vacation in 2001. I saw a couple of kids (middle school age) hanging out. I was talking to them about their football (soccer). I told them we have football also, and they said to me "You mean that long, brown ball." NFL Europe was still in play at the time, and you would never know it existed. The only american sports that I saw was New York Yankees and Chicago Bulls shirts.
I've met some people who enjoy it, but most of us hate it, for the embarrassing non sport that it is.
Sorry, it's a minority interest here. Soccer is the game everyone watches here (yawn). I don't watch sport, personally.

Do you think Dominic Rhodes will be a good start in NFL Fantasy Football Week 6?

Mr. Jones,

There is a section on Yahoo Answers called Fantasy Sports. When you typed this question, I'm almost positive that Yahoo suggested you put this question in that (the correct) section.

Why, sir, did you chose to ignore that suggestion?

Have an excellent day
